Anorexia Nervosa is an eating disorder characterized by restrictive eating patterns, distorted body image, and a low body weight.*
*It is possible to suffer from anorexia nervosa without being underweight. This is called Atypical Anorexia Nervosa, in which an individual meets most of the criteria for anorexia nervosa, but is not underweight.
This can lead individuals to avoid seeking help due to thinking they are not “sick enough.”

Calorie counting / obsessive eating behaviors
Excessive Exercising
Frequent body checking / weighing
Distorted body image
Medical issues including (but not limited to) osteoporosis, low blood pressure, muscle weakness, anemia, lack of menstrual periods, low heart rate, kidney issues, brittle hair/nails, GI issues
