Bulimia Nervosa

Bulimia Nervosa is an eating disorder characterized by binge eating patterns followed by the use of compensatory behaviors.*

*Individuals suffering from Bulimia nervosa are often a normal weight.

This can lead individuals to avoid seeking help due to thinking they are not “sick enough.”

Warning Signs of Bulimia Nervosa…

  • Feeling out of control around food

  • Binge eating / compulsive overeating

  • Purging Behaviors (forced vomiting, laxative-use, diuretic use, excessive exercise)

  • Fear of weight gain

  • Intense guilt or shame surrounding food

  • Poor body image

  • Using food as a coping mechanism to deal with difficult emotions

  • Frequent use of the bathroom after meals

  • Medical issues including (but not limited to) dental/esophageal issues, kidney problems, chemical imbalances, lethargy

Bulimia nervosa can be fatal.
